We had a great Christmas Eve this year; Lance worked most of the day, but was in home in time for the fun. We had dinner at our friends, the Bryan's, and while we were there a bit of a blizzard hit Kansas City. We were so excited because there hadn't been any snow and it was almost magical to have it fall on Christmas Eve. We had to rush home from their house--slowly though, the roads were really bad--because we had an important phone call coming. Santa called our house!! Can you believe it?! As busy as he was on his biggest day of the year he made time to call--thanks Grandpa Carter for pulling some strings for us :o)
Look how thrilled they are! Please excuse Laycie's immodesty, we were right in the middle of getting pjs on. And speaking of pjs...
Here are our traditional new Christmas Eve pjs from Grandpa and Grandma Cheney--they were a big hit. My kids honestly get just as excited about them as a new toy!
The kids decorated sugar cookies and put that--along with carrots--out for Santa's visit. Masen obviously just liked eating them.
We did the Nativity with the kids after we read in Luke 2. So here is their trip to Bethlehem:
Lance always plays the inn-keeper and the kids keep circling back to the bathroom, only to find every time there is 'no room in the inn'. They were really excited at the end, as you can tell, but we tried to calm them down for a spiritual message. It actually ended up being a really wonderful experience as Andersin volunteered his very first testimony of our Savior. Very sweet :o)
We ended Christmas Eve like we always do, with donuts and Lance reading 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. He got really into it this year :o)

That is so awesome to have such great contacts! Of course I'm sure it was Mrs. Clause that reminded Santa about calling, as in days past. Jeff used to do this for Jackies kids and they were always so excited. Then Jackies kids wanted Jeff to do it for there kids. He loves it. I sure wish someone would have done that for our kids, oh well. We did have Santa come to the house a few times when we lived in Teton. Do you remember that Lance? Great blogging!!!
