Note to reader: As you have noticed throughout my blogs, I like to stick to blogging about fun events and quick updates. I have never just 'blogged' monologues of feelings and thoughts...but I'm going to diverge from that for just this once.....
I don't really know if I believe that phrase is true, in my case. Perhaps 'Absence makes the heart realize more deeply what it has already known' would be more accurate; but I can see that phrase not catching on as quick. Lance has been in Hilton Head, SC for the past couple days for an Anesthesia conference. It is never fun being away from your spouse, but this time for some reason has been particularly tugging on my emotions. Putting aside the fact that I'm a pregnancy-induced-emotional-wreck at times with this pregnancy, I think I've just had time to reflect on how great I have it having Lance as my husband. It is hard when you are single to imagine just how great life can be when you finally meet your eternal companion. I would imagine everything he would be as a husband and father, but deep inside knew that my 'perfect man' would realistically end up being settled for. But now, it's humbling (to tears at times) to see that no, you didn't end up with the 'perfect man' you outlined on paper and dreamed up--you got more than you were able to imagine. Lance is the greatest thing I could have wished for. He is by far the best father and husband that I have ever heard of or met. I have never met a man who devotes so much to his marriage and family. He treats me like a queen and is obsessed with our kids. He is my best friend and I look forward every day to the sound of him walking through the front door coming home from work. There is really nothing greater than being adored by someone you are completely in love with.
To conclude, Lance and I often get in discussions on the topics of 'who loves who the most' and both arguing that they are the ones who got the better end of the deal in the relationship. But, I think you will all agree that my argument that I got the better catch can be summed up by two pictures:
Who would have thought that this hunk....
Now THAT is a senior picture
...would have ended up with her?...

This picture really needs no caption
All I can say is (to echo Amy Grant's 1990's hit): Baby, I'm the lucky one!

Oh believe me, I know where you're coming from! When I was pregnant with my little Addie, Steven had to go away for a weekend. Just three days. Not only was I a nervous wreck the whole time thinking he would some how tragically die, and my life would be shattered, but I missed him SO much it was ridiculous!! Before he left I was sad but thought, it's only three days. After the first day I was in tears thinking I had 2 more days away from him! It's hard, especially when you're pregnant!!
I understand missing your hubby! Hope he's able to be back with you soon! But you're sure right about how hubbies' wonderful-ness tends to be so much more noticeable when you can't be with them - it gives us all the more reason to dote on them when they get back :-). *hugs*
I love the pictures! I understand what you are saying. Jade has been gone for a week and a half now and won't be back for another week. It is one of the hardest things to have them gone and it is so much better to have our other halfs with us. But you do have two and a half very cute little ones to keep you busy. Just remember that you are a strong and wonderful mom and you can do it! (at least for the next few days)
Wow. those pictures are amazing. the shirtless backpack. priceless. I think the "argument" you guys have is going nowhere, because after seeing those pictures, it is clear that you guys are MFOE!
(note the sleepless in seattle reference, to go along with the era of those pictures)
Caetie, you crack me up. :) So funny. You two are a sweet couple, that's for sure! Having them gone sure does make us realize how wonderful they are, huh!
Dude,
I am sitting here with Mom and we cracked up when we read your post. Of course the blog was really sweet and all but the pictures were hilarious.
Bryce and Mom
Great pictures!! Gotta love the growing up years!! Sure glad that your hubby is back and that you are safe and sound after the tornado:).
You are so funny! I love the comparison! Good thing you turned out so beautiful! I hate when Tanner goes out of town too. Let us know when the baby gets here!
sorry I haven't put your link up on my site. It takes me forever to update my layout! I just put it up so go check it out.
Happy Be-lated Birthday Caetie! I didn't forget...I was just gone and didn't have your blog link with me. Hope it was a good one!
As a green missionary (6 weeks old I was, about as green as one can be) the Lord delivered a new companion; one Elder Lance Carter of Sugar City, Idaho. Who was this tall, slightly lanky guy with the Vanilla Ice homemade haircut? Certainly I was a newbie, but why was this guy making phone calls during our lunch hour? What's with his seemingly geekiness? Is he a geek or not? Is he a missionary companion for the ages, or a work nazi that will demand a rigorous schedule? Two days into the companionship I wasn't sure. By the end I had made one of my greatest friends.
Man, do I have stories to tell!
